So it's not as good as it was made out to be :(
It's missing indicator/lights/washer stalks on the steering column, the passenger door is missing the pop-up lock and door handle (therefore it can't be opened), passenger side footwell is rotten, tyres are close to illegal, and rear diff feels lumpy.
Some of this means it wont pass it's MOT, which means I will have to get it transported upto where I live before I can do any work on it. New tyres means about £550, not sure bout diff.
This thing might be a pup, and is worth nowhere near the £9k after tax asking price.
They have been really good and apologetic about it all, and are going to come back wih an updated price including OTR price, but I'm not full of confidence right now.

Sorry man. How come they didn't send you more pictures beforehand? I mean it was a long trip you took to see it...

Is it Withams you bought it from?
With Withams its best to go down early, take some sandwiches and something to drink and just spend the day looking around all the stock and see what's available and how much. It can be a fun and interesting day out seeing what they have.
Good luck getting it sorted. They are a decent bunch though one (shall remain nameless) is an arrogant arse, didn't get as far along in the service as he would make out.
If your not in a military vehicle or Land Rover club its a good idea to join one as they can be an amazing wealth of knowledge and know some great places to visit as well as contacts.

Yeh it is. Naming names, I have dealt with Craig who has been good and attentive, but was also unaware the car isn't MOT ready. I've done a good bit of shopping about, and this particular model looked great, if pricey. I need a 300TDI, rather than NA as I'll be towing. I also already have a Series III, so buying something with similar power would be a pointless upgrade.
They have responded with a price of £5,500 before VAT, which is probably fair, but that's sold 'as is', so I'll have to get it up to Newcastle to complete the work it needs doing for MOT. Chassis/bulkhead is clean, and vehicle is in good overall condition otherwise!
